2013年二月，第63屆柏林影展競賽完整名單公佈了，最後共有19部電影被選為競賽片。
其中麥特戴蒙（Matt Damon）自編自演的《心靈勇氣》（Promised Land），描述天然氣公司職員到小鎮尋找天然氣開採權但遭當地居民拒絕的故事，台灣的影迷們已經摩拳擦掌地在期待了！
而法國影后伊莎貝雨蓓（Isabelle Huppert）主演的La Religieuse (The Nun，暫譯《女教徒》)、與影后茱麗葉畢諾許（Juliette Binoche）主演的Camille Claudel, 1915 （暫譯《卡蜜兒，1915》）也分別入選。其中《女教徒》改編自法國啟蒙運動思想 Denis Diderot 的小說【修女】，描述18世紀法國修道院的醜陋面相，已經第二次被翻拍成為電影。
大家所熟知的《瞞天過海》系列的導演史蒂芬索德柏（Steven Soderbergh，《性、謊言、錄影帶》（Sex, Lies, and Videotape）、《天人交戰》（Traffic）的導演），此次也以由查尼塔圖、魯妮瑪拉、裘德洛、凱薩琳麗塔瓊斯（Channing Tatum, Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones）聯合演出的 Side Effects（暫譯《邊緣效應》）入選。
2010年被伊朗政府判決20年之內禁止拍片、寫劇本、接受國內外媒體訪問，以及出國，但仍在2011將《這不是電影》（This Is Not a Film）送到坎城去的導演賈法潘納希（Jafar Panahi）的現況呢？他將會出現在與另一位導演坎伯希拉帕托菲（Kambozia Partovi）合作並入選的電影 Parde (Closed Curtain)之中！自導自演的消息，受到影迷們的期待！（2012年，坎城上發生一件感人事件，即茱麗葉畢諾許趁著得獎上台的時候，大力聲援賈法潘納希，是影壇史上美談。詳情可以參考當時藍祖蔚老師的撰文報導）
其他比較熟知及期待的競賽片，有在台灣上映過的《為愛出走》（Barbara） 女主角妮娜霍斯（Nina Hoss）最新主演的德國片《Gold》、《裸色告白》（Elles）的波蘭導演瑪寇札塔叔莫斯卡（Malgoska Szumowska）的W imię... (In the Name of) ，以及韓國導演洪尚秀的《無人之女》（暫譯，英文片名為Nobody’s Daughter Haewon）。
在觀摩片部分，則有《愛在黎明破曉時》（Before Sunrise）、《愛在日落巴黎時》（Before Sunset）系列的最終曲、茱莉˙蝶兒的《愛在午夜雅典時》（Before Midnight），以及改編自小說的《里斯本夜車》（Night Train to Lisbon）, 動畫《古魯家族》（The Croods）及本次評審團主席王家衛導演的《一代宗師》（開幕片）。
至於台灣的電影，監製李烈陳駿霖導演的《明天記得愛上我》入選電影大觀單元(Panorama) ，張榮吉導演的《逆光飛翔》入選「新世代14+」單元（Generation 14plus），許肇任導演的《甜．秘密》入選「青年導演論壇」單元（Forum）。可以想見，李烈姊姊到時候、在柏林會很活躍、很忙碌的。
